New Construction Products Regulation (CPR 2024/3110)
The new rules took effect in January 2025, and most of them will become mandatory as of January 8, 2026.
Mandatory reporting of environmental impacts: Starting in 2026, insulation manufacturers will be required (in phases) to report the so-called GWP (Global Warming Potential). Products like Gramitherm, which have a negative or zero footprint, will gain a huge competitive advantage in government contracts and certified buildings.
Digital Product Passport: Each insulation material will gradually be equipped with a digital label (QR code) that allows customers to immediately see not only the technical specifications, but also whether the material is recyclable and how much emissions were generated during its production.
Priority for sustainability: The EU is introducing a rule stipulating that public procurement decisions will no longer be based solely on the lowest price, but will also take environmental criteria into account.
